1. What students rate
After each completed lesson, the student can rate their teacher, once per lesson and within the following 7 days.
They give 1 to 5 stars on four criteria:
- Punctuality
- Teaching skill
- Patience
- Connection and technical quality
The lesson rating is the average of these four criteria. The teacher's rating is the average of every lesson rating received since the start.
2. Why the displayed rating is not the plain average
A plain average would be unfair: a single 5-star review would rank above thirty reviews averaging 4.96. So every teacher starts at 4/5, as if they already had 5 reviews at 4. Real reviews then move them up or down. The more reviews, the closer the rating gets to the real average.
rating = (reviews × average + 5 × 4) ÷ (reviews + 5)
| Reviews | Plain average | Rating used |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 5 | 4.17 |
| 5 | 5 | 4.5 |
| 20 | 4.5 | 4.4 |
| 30 | 4.96 | 4.82 |
| 10 | 3.5 | 3.67 |
3. Teacher of the month
Every month, the institute chooses its teacher of the month: one male teacher and one female teacher.
The choice is not based on student reviews alone: it also takes into account punctuality (absences and lateness) and the number of hours taught during the month.
